My Favorite Danmei in 2019

1. The Pet Shop's Bun/Kid [包子宠物店]
Super cute story about a pet shop owner and his white tiger cub. Later on, the dad appears, and they make a family together. Dad is rich but not the typical overbearing president, so the romance is actually "love after having a child". There're lots of side characters with their own stories, and they made the whole story full.

2. Xian Man (Full of Seafood) Palace [鲜满宫堂]
MC is a seafood chef/cat slave who transmigrates to an ancient fantasy world and successfully captures ML's attention. ML is an emperor/cat shifter who loves to eat seafood. He meets MC and decides to have MC as his queen/chef.
There aren't many palace intrigues here since the royal family is very exclusive and inheritance is based on the fur color. Golden is an emperor; black is a knight/protector; white is a teacher/sage, and the rest are generals or small kings.
The royal family easily accepts MC because he's a great chef (and a cat slave). Later, they go on an adventure to find ML's dad and uncles and come back with their granduncle (a cat as big as an adult tiger) and an heir (ML's cousin's son).
What I love in this story is the abundance of cats and their antics. Even though they're already adults, but they love to change shape and play/fight in cat shape.
ML is especially very spoiled. He often sits on MC's shoulder or is draped on MC's back while MC is cooking. When MC is feeding their (adopted) sons, ML often appears and demands to get spoon-fed too.
All in all, this is a light, feel-good story with lots of cats and seafood.

3. Regarding the Correct Method of Using Jindan as Food [论金丹的正确食用方法] and Regarding the Perfect Way to Conquer an OCD [论龟毛的完美收服方式]
First story is a silly and sweet story. MC is hilarious and also tenacious when pursuing ML. There're some surprises regarding ML's identity, but the revelation happens near the end.
Second story is a dog blood drama with so many twists and turns, but MC and ML's characteristics make it still a fun read. ML's OCD will definitely make you laugh, and his process when falling in love with MC, which is revealed after so much drama, will make you cry a bit.
How the stories are related:
In the first story, MC is the ninth dragon prince, and ML is the demon elder/god. In the second story, MC is the first dragon prince, and ML is one of the demon kings.
There're two side CPs, one is between the second dragon prince with a mortal, and the other one is between a demon king and a god.

4. New Era, New Hell [新时代，新冥界]
A hilarious, clever, and very entertaining urban fantasy story. It's about the Chinese hell/underworld system brought into the new era by incorporating technology (e.g. every dead person/ghost gets a ghost mobile phone complete with rebirth reminder, chatting app, forum, etc.). The romance takes the backstage, btw.

5. PUBG Online Romance of the Century [PUBG世纪网恋]
A sweet love story between two lonely souls with very different backgrounds. MC is a poor game anchor while ML is a rich businessman and also ML's big boss.

6. The Hamster Wants to Eat Chicken [仓鼠要吃鸡]
A gaming/e-sport story, and the hamster becomes a game anchor. ML is his neighbor and also a game anchor, a famous one. This is a feel-good story. The MC is a super cute hamster with a super pampering BF. The e-sport world is good, competitive yet friendly (and gives birth to a few gay couples). The parents are also very nice and understanding. There's no villain here and no dog blood drama either.

7. My Bathtub is Connected to the Ocean [我的浴缸通海洋]
A supernatural adventure story, human vs. other race story. It's lightly written though, and there're lots of interesting supporting characters. Romance is very light, and the story focuses more on MC mediating peaceful coexistence between humans and the sea creatures and making a home for the sea creatures who go ashore.

8. The Pinnacle of Takeaway [巅峰外卖]

A humorous urban fantasy story with plenty of actions/adventures and heartwarming family plot. Both MC and ML are super cool, and I think their relationship is quite balanced even though ML is a super rich, super powerful "national treasure" (no, he's not a panda).

9. All the Bitches Got Conned by Me [瘸子都被我忽悠的站起来了]
A Chinese ghost-buster story with interesting cases that teach moral lessons, heartwarming family interactions, and boisterous friendship. There's romance, but, IMO, it's lukewarm and a bit unconvincing.
